Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for Dwight L. Wesley, 91, of Foxworth, who passed away Saturday, August 15, 2020 at his residence. Interment will be at Foxworth Cemetery. Bro. Reed Houston will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Hathorn Funeral Home.
Our FVFD family and friends are heartbroken tonight. One of our original founders and first Fire Chief D. L. Wesley has passed from this life to join his family and friends on the other side. Chief worked hard to train us all and bring us all bring good fire protection to Foxworth and Marion County, always striving to make us better. Also as a former President of The Mississippi Firefighters Association Legislature to improve the plight of all Mississippi fire departments. Chief was also a Korean War veteran, former Mississippi State Trooper, fire equipment salesman, owned his own business, bee keeper, Sunday Scholl teacher, and good neighbor. Please be in thoughtful prayer for his family.
Mr. Wesley was preceded in death by his Wife, Mildred Wesley; and his Parents, Dwight Wesley, Sr. and Dexter Wesley.
He is survived by four Sons, John L. Wesley (Barbara), of West Jordan, Utah, David D. Wesley (Vicky), of Foxworth, Kenneth M. Wesley, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Michael T. Wesley (Melanie), of Metairie, Louisiana; one Daughter, Mary W. Croft (Charles), of Petal; two Brothers, Joe Wesley, of Poplarville, Robert Wesley, of Pittsboro, North Carolina; six Grandchild, Brian Wesley (Tammy), of West Jordan, Utah, Eric Wesley, of West Jordan, Utah, Matthew Wesley (Amanda), of Diamondhead, Grant Wesley, of Ocean Springs, Elizabeth Wesley, of Metairie, Louisiana, Emily Wesley, of Metairie, Louisiana; and six Great-grandchildren, Katie Wesley, Justin Wesley, Lucy Wesley, Rebecca Wesley, Parker Wesley, Jacob Wesley.
Pallbearers will be Robert Taylor, Jeff Thomas, Dewayne Stuckey, Ray Lynn Windham, Matthew Wesley, and Brian Wesley. Honorary pallbearers will be the Foxworth Fire Department.
