Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia,  for Donald Nelson Smith, 88 of Columbia, MS, who passed away Friday, March 25, 2022. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia.  Mernice Griner will officiate. Chris Turnage and Beth Aultman will provide special music. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia.

Donald was an outstanding pillar of the community. He served his country in Germany while enlisted in the Army. He managed Piggly Wiggly here in Columbia for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and loved his wife and his family very much.

He was preceded in death by his Parents; Clarence and Marie Smith

Brother; Ralph Smith; Grandson; Jamie Breakfield.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years; Hilda Smith of Columbia; Daughters, Deborah Duff of Columbia, Kim Breakfield (Ted) of Columbia; Grandchildren; Shane Smith, Katie Waldrop, Robbie Duff, Jessica Breakfield. Great Grandchildren, Drew Smith, Jack Gillis, Cooper Waldrop, Briggs Waldrop, Charly Kate Waldrop, Caleb Upton, Lexie Duff, and Colton Duff; and a host of Nieces & Nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jared Waldrop, Jack Gillis, Robbie Duff, Clayton Upton, Jonathan Lazzarino, and Patrick Lazzarino.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Greg Smith and Jeff Smith.
