Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for Deloice Lillian Young, 83 of Silver Creek, who passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Interment will be at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Silver Creek.
The Young family will receive guests on Wednesday evening from 5:00 pm up until 8:00 pm at Hathorn Funeral Home.
Deloice, a devoted woman of faith and family, was born in Star City, Arkansas, on November 19, 1942. She later married the love of her life, James, at the age of 21. In 1972, the couple answered a divine calling and moved to Mississippi, where James became the Pastor of Silver Creek Assembly of God Church. Deloice served faithfully by his side for the rest of his life, embodying the true heart of ministry as the perfect pastor's wife. Though she was legally blind, her life was defined by what she could do rather than what she couldn't; she was a woman of remarkable talent and skill, finding great joy in crocheting, quilt making, reading her Bible, and completing word searches. Above all else, Deloice cherished her walk with her Savior and the family she loved so dearly, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering faith, strength, and grace.
She was preceded in death by her Husband of 40 years, Rev. James C. Young; her Parents, Clyde & Ellie Harrison Kellum; three Brothers, Parnell Kellum, Leo Kellum, Otis Kellum; and one Sister, Myrtle Kellum Farley.
She was survived by her two Sons, Clyde C. Young (Vicky), of Columbia, James A. Young (Sharon), of Natchez; and two Grandchildren, Wesley V. Young (Claire Gray), Daniel C. Young, both of Columbia.
Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge of the arrangements. Family and friends may sign an online guestbook at www.hathornfuneralhome.com.
