Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Improve Baptist Church in Columbia for David Winston Watts, 80, of Columbia, who passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Forrest General Hospital. Interment will be at Improve Baptist Church Cemetery in Columbia.  Bro. Darel Daniels and Bro. Jonathan McLemore will officiate the services.  Mike Bennett and Paula Powell will provide special music. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, March 13, 2023 at Hathorn Funeral Home and from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Improve Baptist Church.

David was an all-state basketball player for Improve High School and Pearl River Jr. College. He was a member of American Mensa. He was an avid reader, a hard worker, loved football, Martin guitars and most of all loved his family. He loved a good or bad joke, he could fix anything, and was always there to lend a hand to everyone and anyone that needed him.  He was a faithful member to Improve Baptist Church and Choir.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Burt Watts; father, Charles Watts;  mother, Eula Morris Watts; two brothers, Steve Watts and Mark Watts; sister, Charlotte Pennell.

He is survived by his wife, Judy LeBouef  Watts; two sons, Damon Watts and Chris Watts (Monica);  step-son, Brad Ledet (Carrieanne); step-daughter, Connie Alamond  (George ); eight grandchildren, Luke Watts, C.J. Watts, Chloe Watts, Blake Alamond, Colton Alamond, Braden Alamond, Julian DeBride and Lily Perrett;  great grandchild, Eva Ann Alamond; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be George Alamond, Braden Alamond, Brad Ledet, George Pennell, Ashley Watts and Morris Watts. Honorary pallbearers will be Luke Watts, C.J. Watts, Charles Watts, Carroll Watts, Andrew Watts, Kevin Pennell and Ken Pennell
