Obituary

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Brushy Creek Baptist Church for David Eugene "Gene" Dement, 77, of Lumberton, who passed away Monday, January 13, 2025. Interment will be at Brushy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Don Jacobs will officiate the services. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Brushy Creek Baptist Church.

"Gene" was a pillar of his community, a godly man who cherished his family above all else. Married to his beloved wife, Connie, for an incredible 50 years, they built a life filled with love and faith. "Gene" served his country with honor during his two years in the Army and dedicated his career to roofing, a trade he proudly passed down to his sons. For 16 years, "Gene" melodious voice led the congregation in worship at Brushy Creek Baptist Church, a testament to his deep faith and commitment to his community.

He was preceded in death by his Wife, Connie Dement; his Parents, Wyatt & Iris Dement; five Brothers, Wendell Dement, Frank Dement, Edwin Dement, Dewey Dement and Buddy Herrington.

He is survived by his four Sons, David Ransome Dement (Rebecca), Dewayne Dement (Annabelle), Dewyatt Dement (Mandy), Derrick Dement (Faith); one Daughter, Ewanda Dement; two Brothers, Noah Dement, Sr., Brian Temples (Penny); five Sisters, Bobbie Thompson (Leon), Darlous Herrington, Gloria June Johnson (Frank), Cola Cameron (Stan), Carla Dubose (John); ten Grandchildren, Stephanie Allred (Kendell), Tara Boone (Devion), Gabby Sanford, Bradley "Bubba" Sanford, Zoey Sanford, Hailey Dement, Tucker Dement, Brayden Dement, Dean Dement, Graysen Dement; four Great-Grandchildren, Annelaine, Bellamy, David and Theo along with a host of Nieces, Nephews and In-Laws.

Pallbearers will be Dusty Cameron, Steven "Stevie" Dement, Noah Dement, Jr., Stan Cameron, John Dubose, Travis Hibley and Tex Sistrunk. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Barber and Joe Cook.
