Obituary

Christopher Lane Kemp, 63, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at his residence in California. Chris grew up in Columbia, MS and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in business. He is leaving behind a legacy of impactful business accomplishments. You cannot drive anywhere in Hattiesburg or Columbia and not pass a billboard he developed. He also helped develop Highway 98 into what it is today. Chris was never in a hurry. Deadlines, dates, and schedules were not his strong points, people were. His unique personality made him a friend to everyone he met. He was known to give the shirt off his back to those in need, and would buy countless meals for friends, family, and strangers just because he wanted to make their day. An avid reader, he would always retain a fun fact to share. Chris loved anything outdoors, from family trips to the beach, slalom skiing at Lake Serene, to snow skiing in Colorado. Chris had a heart of gold and an infectious smile; he took immense pride in his children and absolutely adored his grandchildren making him a truly remarkable man.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Robert (Bob) Lemuel Kemp and his mother, Jerry Wilkins Kemp.

He is survived by his Son, Robert Logan Kemp and his wife Cameron of Hattiesburg, MS; two Daughters, Chelsea Emerald Kemp of Breckenridge, CO and Christina Lane Kemp of Madison, MS; three Grandchildren, Stormi Grace Kemp, Robert Cruz Kemp and Indi Rose Kemp of Hattiesburg, MS; Brother, Kevin Lee Kemp Sr. and his wife Ginny of Columbia, MS; Sister, Carol Kemp Simpson and her husband JD of Hattiesburg, MS; and A host of nephews, nieces and friends.
