Obituary

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for Chip Loftin, 56, of Mandeville, who passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Bro. Joe Wiggins will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Hathorn Funeral Home.

Chip graduated from Columbia High School in 1983.  While attending CHS, Chip was a member of the band, baseball and football teams. In 1982, Chip was an all-state quarterback that led the Wildcats to a state championship. Chip graduated from Pearl River Community College. While attending PRCC he was a member of the baseball and football teams.  Chip graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi in 1988. While attending USM, Chip was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and the Southern Miss baseball team.

He was preceded in death by his parents, B.G. and Peggy Loftin; grandparents, Jack and Galaverne Loftin, and Earle and Katherine Shivers.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cathy Loftin of Mandeville, LA; sons, Jack and Nick Loftin of Mandeville, LA; brother, Chris Loftin (Dana) of Madison, MS; step-mother, Janice Loftin of Bunker Hill, MS; step-brother, Jamey Shivers of Bassfield, MS; step-sister, Veronica Breakfield (Eddie) of Athens, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
