Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for Charles Louis Rogers, Sr., 100, of Columbia, who passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at his residence. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia. Rev. Reed Houston will officiate the services.

The Rogers family will receive friends on Monday morning beginning at 10:00 am up until the time of service of 12:00 pm at Hathorn Funeral Home.

We pause to honor the extraordinary life of Mr. Charles Rogers, Sr., a cherished figure in Marion County and the bedrock of Rogers Lumber Company since 1957. A true member of the Greatest Generation, Mr. Rogers was the last surviving WWII veteran in Marion County, having bravely served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. His dedication extended beyond his military service and successful business; he was deeply committed to his industry, serving as Vice President of the MLMA and later being appointed by Governor Bill Allain as President of the Mississippi Forestry Commission, a testament to his expertise and leadership. Mr. Rogers was a pillar of his community whose legacy of service, enterprise, and steadfast character will continue to inspire all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his two Wives, Sadie Young Rogers and Frances Miller Rogers;  Daughter, Rebecca Lynn Hauser;  Father, Louis Rogers;  Mother, Myrtle Davis Rogers;  Grandchild, Matthew Hauser.

He is survived by his Son, Charles "Bubba" Rogers, Jr. (Sharon) of Columbia, MS;  Daughter, Sharon Hollingsworth (Mel) of Zionville, IL;  seven Grandchildren, Jennifer Schmidt, Kimberly Dalton (Sean), Kate Lyon (Greg), Kelley Hauser, Charles Rogers, III (Holly), Kyle Hollingsworth (Rita), Kevin Hollingsworth (Julie);  Great Grandchild, 16 Great Grandchildren;  Nephew, A host of Nephews, Nieces and Friends.

Mr. Rogers will be carried to his final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers; they include Kevin Hollingsworth, Luke Lyon, Sean Dalton, John Patrick Lyon, Charles Rogers IV, and Charles Rogers III.

His family wishes to expresses their deepest gratitude to his compassionate sitters, Angela Jones and Brittany Sartin. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to First United Methodist Church of Columbia.
