Obituary

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Darbun Community Cemetery in Darbun for Bobby J. Sauls, 80, of Columbia, who passed away Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Marion General Hospital. Interment will be at Darbun Community Cemetery. Dr. Benny Hornsby will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Darbun Community Cemetery.

A long-time resident of Columbia, Mr. Bobby was known far and wide for his singing. That was one of his greatest passions. He had a very strong memory of about 600 songs and knew the presidents front and back. He was a faithful member of East Columbia Baptist Church. He loved all kinds of sports, sometimes playing as a one man team for volley ball. He was married 31 years and loved his wife dearly. He was a Free Mason and Town Marshall of Tylertown. He was lead singer of a country group, Marshall and the Outlaws. He was extremely kind hearted, loved telling jokes and playing cards. He loved his life and he will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnie and Mary Andrews Sauls; son, Clark Sauls; and brother, Johnie Sauls.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Sauls; daughter, Daphne Evans; son, Jeffrey Evans ; granddaughter, Presley Herbst; great-grandson, Reider Herbst; brothers, Doyle Sauls and Kenny Sauls; and sister, Gail Cothern; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Miller, Hayden Miller, Geoffrey McMichael, Jerry Broom, Jim Allen, Greg Elkins and Danny Alexander.
