Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm on Wednesday, January 08, 2025 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for Bobbie Nell McGowan, 95, of Hattiesburg, who passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Bellevue Assisted Living. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia. Rev. Millard Moak and Reverend Shane Hoes will officiate the services.  Reuben McDowell will provide special music. Visitation will be held from 12:30 pm until 2:30 pm on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Hathorn Funeral Home.

Bobbie, a beloved resident of Columbia, MS for 65 years, passed away peacefully. Born in Magee, MS, she graduated from Magee High School and furthered her education at Mississippi College. A long-time and devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church, Mrs. McGowan found joy in many pursuits. Her passions included the artistry of sewing and quilting, the vibrant colors of her garden, the escape of a good book and a good football game, and the quiet comfort of her faith.

She was preceded in death by her Spouse, John Michael McGowan; Daughter, Diane McGowan; Father, Truman Herrington; Mother, Ellen Walker Herrington; Brother, Truett Herrington.

She is survived by her three Daughters, Ellen Jackson (Jimmy) of Hattiesburg, MS, Joan Spiers (Tommy), Michelle Morris (Joe); six Grandchildren, Matthew Spiers, Virginia Champagne (Chris), Michael Spiers (Cortney), Cullen Morris (Karen), Tripp Jackson and Natalie Jackson; two Sisters, Mozelle Williamson and Carolyn Blair; five Great Grandchildren, Layton Jackson, Jada Jackson, Callie Spiers, Asher Spiers and Caleb Spiers; A host of nephews, nieces, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Tripp Jackson, Layton Jackson, Michael Spiers, Michael Blair, Tim Blair, Larry Williamson, Michael McGowan, and Matthew Spiers.
