Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for Betty Lou Tolar, 86, of Columbia, who passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025 at her residence. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia. Rev. Everette Broome and Richard Magee will officiate the services. Jimmy Townsend and Randy Lowery will provide special music. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Hathorn Funeral Home.

Betty Lou Tolar was a woman whose artistic talents illuminated the world around her. An amazing artist with a paintbrush, she captured beauty on canvas, while her love for music flowed through her skilled fingers as both a pianist and organist. Beyond her creative passions, Betty Lou was a great cook, nourishing both body and soul with her delicious meals. As a wonderful wife and mother, she created a home filled with love and care, and her special presence enriched the lives of all who knew her. Her dedication extended to her home, which she meticulously maintained, ensuring a spotless and welcoming environment.

She was preceded in death by her Father, Elwood Housley; Mother, Mary Helen Ratliff Housley;  two Sisters, Patsy Anderson and Sandra Stringer.

She is survived by her Spouse, Joseph A. Tolar of Columbia, MS;  Son, Barry Tolar;  Brother, Donald Housley (Brenda);   A host of Nephews, Nieces and Friends.

Pallbearers will be Terry Dunn, Logan Dunn, Glenn Dale, Will Simmons, Trent Tolar, and Ronnie Tolar. .
