Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 1, 2022, at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia, for Betty Jo Laflin, 98 of Columbia, who passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia. Rev. Tom Thurman will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday, July 31, 2022, and from 9:00 am until 10:00 am on Monday, August 1, 2022, all at Hathorn Funeral Home.

Mrs. Laflin had a long forty-year career with Western Electric in Indianapolis, Indiana, a subsidiary of AT&T. She worked in the Accounting Department, and after retiring in 1982, she moved to Columbia. Betty Jo enjoyed playing bridge and she deeply loved her family. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Columbia. Her family finds great joy in the assurance that she is now "home" with the Lord and many other family members.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, C. Denny Laflin; her Parents; Miles Howard Wilson & Florence Ethel Stamper Wilson; eleven Siblings, Grace Kyzar, William Kyzar Wilson, Marion Carlton Wilson, Harry Elmo Wilson, Ross Waters Wilson, Mary Geneva Schaffer, Charles Eugene Wilson, Dorothy  Wilson, Virginia Maurine Power, Ramona O'dell Moore, Miles Howard "Herkie" Wilson, Jr.

She is survived by her Daughter, Lucretia Reid, of Conroe, Texas; three Grandchildren, Abigail Mechtenberg, of South Bend, Indiana, Commander Daniel Reid, USNC, of Arlington, Virginia, Nathaniel Reid (Amanda), of Conroe, Texas; three Great Grandchildren, Hannah  Mechtenberg, Ambrose Mechtenberg, Cyril Mechtenberg; and one Great-Great Grandchild, Kahail Mechtenberg.
