Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia for Alton Floyd Bennett, 87, of Columbia, who passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020 in Columbia. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Bro. Millard Moak will officiate.

Alton proudly served his country in the United States Army 2nd Armed Cavalry patrolling the Iron Curtain in Germany, in which he received an occupational medal. He continued his service in the Mississippi National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Bennett of Hickory Grove Community; son, Anthony F. Bennett; brothers, Oliver, Allen, Arthur, and Ervin Bennett; and sisters, Sarah Broome, Mary Bennett, Lucille Broome, and Lavada Buchanan.

He is survived by his daughter, Pam Ball of Columbia; granddaughter, Kimberly Ball of Columbia; great-grandson, Landon McNabb of Columbia; sister, Eva Lois Branton of Collins; and ex-wife and life-long friend, Sonya Bennett of Columbia.

Pallbearers will be Landon McNabb, Fred McDaniel, Huey Hitt, Victor Johnson, Steve Crawley, and Robert McDaniel.
