Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for Alene W. Lewis, 92, of Columbia, who passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Marion General Hospital. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia. Rev. Ralph Sanford will officiate the services. Mike Bennett will provide special music. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Hathorn Funeral Home.

Alene was born on April 26, 1932 in Jayess, Mississippi. Everyone will remember her "fisty" and "sassy" personality. An avid supporter of Ole Miss, Alene worked to put her husband, Donald, through pharmacy school at the University of Mississippi. She told everyone that she earned her PhT there . . . Put Hubby Through! She loved her Lord, was a faithful member of North Columbia Baptist Church, and served many years in the Sr. Adult Ministry there. Alene adored her precious dog, Deacon. She worked as a Switchboard Operator for Marion General Hospital, and she was also an active sponsor for the West Marion High School Band.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Donald Lewis; Son, Michael Lewis; Father, William Willoughby; Mother, Flora Peavy Willoughby; three Brothers, J. D. Willoughby, Howard Willoughby (Rosie) and Milton Willoughby (Geneva); four Sisters, Edith Willoughby, Letha Givens, Eunice Harvey and Elsie Ethridge.

She is survived by her Son, Steve Lewis (Lynn); Daughter, Vicki Sanford (Ralph) seven Grandchildren, Anna Montgomery (Andrew), Ben Sanford, Jillian Harris (Matt), William Tyler Lewis (Krislyn), Kimberly Lewis, Candice Lewis and Dean Lewis; seven Great Grandchildren, Allie Rose Montgomery, Millie Lovelace Montgomery, Aaron Lewis, Trevor Lewis, Brinley Harris, Maddie Harris and Hannah Lewis; A host of nephews, nieces, and friends; Daughter-In-Law, Julie Lewis; Brother-In-Law, Roger Lewis (Toni).

Pallbearers will be Ben Sanford, William Tyler Lewis, Gerald Broome, Jamie Givens & Dewayne Ervin.
